MY APPROACH TO HEALING IS HOLISTIC, TRULY INCORPORATING ALL ASPECTS OF PHYSIOLOGY, ENERGY, AND THE INDIVIDUAL HEALTH NEEDS OF EACH BODY.

I draw from the following list of techniques and modalities and tailor each session for the clientโ€™s needs.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

The bulk of clients require therapeutic deep tissue massage, which is physical manipulation of soft tissue. Itโ€™s a traditional massage, in which the primary focus is on the muscular skeletal and nervous systems.

HOLISTIC BODYWORK

The basis of this modality is therapeutic massage while taking additional considerations for holistic healing and the sessions are typically built upon with consecutive treatments. The goal of these sessions are to address not only physical pain, but emotional pain that may be manifesting in an individualโ€™s body.  This is a profound healing practice where the client can expect to feel release not only on a physical level but emotionally and psychologically. This is achieved by opening the mind-body communication, identifying pain patterns, and then integrating and/or releasing pain through soft tissue work (therapeutic deep tissue massage), breathing techniques, energy work, guided meditation, and restorative yoga postures.

Clients may wish to specify Trauma Informed Bodywork to be integrated into a Holistic Bodywork session.

TRAUMA INFORMED BODYWORK

This massage modality is designed for survivors of trauma, those experiencing PTSD, and anyone experiencing high anxiety and stress on a regular basis. These sessions address physical manifestations of trauma in the body in a safe and non-triggering environment. In addition to traditional techniques such as Swedish massage and deep tissue work, the practitioner utilizes breathing exercises, guided meditation, and restorative yoga postures.

Each session is confidential and tailored to fit the needs and experiences of the individual. During the pre-session consultation, additional considerations that may be taken to ensure a safe space are discussed.  The client may be fully clothed if they wish.  It is not necessary to discuss the particulars of the clientโ€™s trauma, however, it is highly recommended to communicate specific triggers to the practitioner prior to the first session.  Clients have the option to sign a release granting communication between their mental health professional and their massage therapist.

SOMATIC THERAPY

The goal of somatic therapy is to help the individual develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotions, and to learn how to better regulate their thoughts and feelings through the use of physical sensations and experiences.

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a specific form of somatic therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine. It is based on the idea that traumatic experiences can become "trapped" in the body, leading to a range of physical and emotional symptoms. SE aims to help individuals release these trapped experiences and restore balance to their nervous system.

Overall, SE is a gentle and non-invasive form of therapy that can help individuals release the effects of trauma from their body and move towards greater healing and resilience.
